Accumulate – Youth Homelessness Charity – London – Update

Accumulate, The Art School for The Homeless, is changing!

For more than a decade Accumulate has been running creative learning activities for people with experience of homelessness, and for the last seven of these years, we have operated as an independent charity. From the beginning of 2026 we will be part of Ravensbourne University London who will be taking on the management of Accumulate’s programme, projects and brand.

Ravensbourne has been a big part of the Accumulate story from the outset. Many of the university’s tutors and staff have been involved in directly running Accumulate’s learning activities with the assistance of students. And since 2017 more than 35 Accumulate participants have become students at the university via our scholarship scheme for Ravensbourne’s Access course, with some progressing to degrees and masters.

As well as being one of the UK’s leading educational institutes for the creative industries, Ravensbourne has always had a strong commitment to inclusivity and promoting diversity and access in the sector. In taking on Accumulate, it will be able to build on this, helping more people with experience of homelessness to learn and develop their lives, skills and knowledge through creative education.

I am immensely proud of what I have achieved with Accumulate. It has been the highlight of my career knowing that I have built something of value that has changed people’s lives, improved their wellbeing, got them into education and also into employment. It really is something unique and very special and now I am excited to see how Accumulate, The Art School for the Homeless, will prosper and develop as part of Ravensbourne University London.

Accumulate – Youth Homelessness Charity –  Information

Accumulate, The Art School For The Homeless, helps young, homeless people to build their skills, develop their well-being and improve their lives through creativity. They commit to Accumulate, turning up every week for our creative workshops, and through their attendance and engagement in the Accumulate project, they increase their self-discipline, communication and social skills, become more open to learning and, most importantly, feel empowered to break out of the cycles of boredom, negativity and depression and to move forward more positively with their lives.

As a result of being involved with Accumulate, recent Accumulate participants have gone on to gain employment, come off benefits, take up training opportunities, move out of the hostel into independent accommodation and get back in contact with their families.

Accumulate also offers fully paid scholarships for Accumulate participants to continue their creative learning and study Design and Digital Media (Access to HE Education one-year course) at Ravensbourne University London. So far  24 Accumulate participants have progressed onto this course with 12 taking up degree places.
