Accumulate – Youth Homelessness Charity – London

Established in 2014, Accumulate uses creativity to improve the wellbeing of young people who are affected by homelessness. We work with hostels and housing organisations to deliver learning experiences and showcasing opportunities in art, photography, creative writing, audio-visual production, fashion and other creative disciplines. Our activities support people on the margins of society, and enables them to increase their confidence, skills and self-value and, in the longer term, facilitates them onto their journey into training, education and employment.

Accumulate is the bridge between the UK’s creative excellence and the most socially disadvantaged. Drawing on our connections across renowned education institutes and industry practitioners, as well as long-standing relationships with hostels and charities, we are London’s centre of education for creative arts and media for the homeless. Our goal is to expand our activities, relationships and profile across the UK, and to provide creative learning and opportunities for all of those who are most in need. Accumulate – Youth Homelessness Charity –  Information

Accumulate, The Art School For The Homeless, helps young, homeless people to build their skills, develop their well-being and improve their lives through creativity. They commit to Accumulate, turning up every week for our creative workshops, and through their attendance and engagement in the Accumulate project, they increase their self-discipline, communication and social skills, become more open to learning and, most importantly, feel empowered to break out of the cycles of boredom, negativity and depression and to move forward more positively with their lives.

As a result of being involved with Accumulate, recent Accumulate participants have gone on to gain employment, come off benefits, take up training opportunities, move out of the hostel into independent accommodation and get back in contact with their families.

Accumulate also offers fully paid scholarships for Accumulate participants to continue their creative learning and study Design and Digital Media (Access to HE Education one-year course) at Ravensbourne University London. So far  24 Accumulate participants have progressed onto this course with 12 taking up degree places.
